Media Release: TBDSSAB Welcomes 2024 Board Leadership

January 10, 2023 – The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) has appointed a new Chair and Vice Chair for 2024.

At the December 2023 meeting, Brian Hamilton, who has represented the City of Thunder Bay on the Board of Directors since 2019, was elected Board Chair for 2024. Jim Moffat, who joined the Board as a representative for Manitouwadge in 2023, was appointed as Vice Chair.

“I’m honoured to have the support of the Board,” says incoming Board Chair, Brian Hamilton. “The work of the TBDSSAB is some of the most impactful for the district. As a Board member I’ve watched the organization evolve and grow with the needs of the community. As Board Chair I intend to deepen my involvement, sharpen our advocacy and well-represent the district at the provincial tables. It’s a very exciting time for the TBDSSAB.”

“We look forward to working with the new Board leadership in 2024,” says Bill Bradica, Chief Administrative Officer. “Brian and Jim bring substantial expertise to the table that will contribute to the success of TBDSSAB’s strategic goals and advocacy efforts.”

The TBDSSAB Board of Directors consists of fourteen members. Thirteen of the Board members are appointed by municipal councils, while one is selected by qualified electors of the Territory Without Municipal Organization (TWOMO) for a four-year term.

The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board supports people to improve their lives and become self-sufficient. It does this as the service system manager for vital, quality social services needed by individuals and families – including child care and early years, community housing, and homelessness prevention – and through the delivery of Ontario Works.  Visit the TBDSSAB website for more information at www.tbdssab.ca.
