Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day is coming up on October 21, 2025.
Families and children are encouraged to show appreciation for child care professionals in a meaningful way.
To help you get started, TBDSSAB has created a few different options for you. Feel free to pick and choose from the options provided, or get creative and think outside the box! The important thing is that you show your gratitude.

About the 2025 Artwork
This year’s Child Care Worker Appreciation Day artwork was designed by a child in a local child care and early years program.
To choose a design, TBDSSAB held an art contest open to children in any child care and early years program funded by TBDSSAB. After narrowing it down to six finalists, educators across the District of Thunder Bay voted for their choice.
Artist: Wren, age 7
Artist’s title: The Forest of Imagination and Wonder
Artist’s description: In the forest of imagination and wonders lives the together tree that represent friendship and community. It is home to any creature. The magical fairies guard the tree. The roots represent all of the elements: water, fire, air and earth. The tree grows lemons and blueberries and sometimes it makes different fruit to feed the creatures. It all joins together with love.
Get Inspired
- There are a hundred ways to say thank you: Drawings, sculpting, dramatic play, writing, painting, singing… the list goes on!
- Create opportunities for your child to decide how to show their appreciation as well as their creativity.
- An invitation to create: A collection of loose parts and materials invite children to explore, investigate and create. A fall nature walk provides a wonderful opportunity for children to collect beautiful treasures that can be shared or used to create special gifts of appreciation for their educator.
