Canada Post Service Disruption Updates
Due to the Canada Post mail disruption, The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) is implementing special procedures to ensure continuity of service until further notice.
Updates related to TBDSSAB services during the postal disruption will be posted below.

Cheque Pickup Schedule
Cheques for January 2025 can be picked up at 231 May Street South on the following dates and times. This includes: Ontario Works, Landlords, Vendors.
- Monday December 30, 2024 –Â 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Tuesday December 31, 2024 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Daily cheques for Thunder Bay are available for pickup everyday.

Updates for Service Recipients
Tenants are still responsible for paying rent and other charges within the normal time frames.
Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD)
PAD lets you pay your rent directly through your bank account. Rent will be paid on time without using mail services.
Avoid delays… Sign up for PAD today!
Contact your Property Management Clerk to sign up.
Ontario Works cheques for January 2025 will not be mailed and will only be available for pick-up. Please see the Cheque Pickup Schedule section on this page for dates and times.
If You Access TBDSSAB Satellite Offices Outside Thunder Bay, please contact your local TBDSSAB office about cheque pickup procedures and locations.

Christmas Cheer Fund cards can be completed at our office. TBDSSAB and ODSP offices will accept cards on behalf of OW and ODSP recipients.
The Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer office will be open to phone calls beginning Monday, December 2nd from 9am–4pm daily. You can register register by calling Christmas Cheer at 807-622-2286. For more information visit: https://www.thunderbaychristmascheer.com/Â
Updates for Landlords and Vendors
Cheques for vendor payments for January 2025 will not be mailed and will only be available for pick-up. Rent cheques will be available for pick-up at the TBDSSAB Main Office. Please see Cheque Pickup section on this page for pick up dates.
For the satellite communities, please contact your local satellite offices for pickup procedures and locations.
